【Week 12 of 2024】Rate Change Analysis and Projections for CN-US Air Freight Markets by Maxwin

Time:2024/3/18Source:MAXWIN LOGISTICS LIMITED

We would like to provide you with an update on the current situation regarding cargo bookings and rates for various lanes.

1. CN-ORD: We have noticed a significant rise in the number of high-density cargoes booked for this week. As a result, the capacity for high-density cargoes will be greatly limited. Airlines will be prioritizing volumetric cargoes.

2. CN-LAX: Following last week's rate increase from CN-LAX, the bookings for this lane have remained steady. We have observed a large number of big shipments being booked. Rates for high-density cargoes are expected to increase again this week. However, volumetric cargoes will be given preference.

3. CN-JFK: Last week, due to a significant rate hike for CN-JFK, there has been a decrease in demand for e-commerce cargoes on this lane. However, traditional B2B volume is on the rise. High-density cargoes account for a major portion of the booked volume. Depending on the developments in CN-ORD rates this week, CN-JFK rates may increase again.

4. CN-DFW: Ongoing project shipments have resulted in extremely limited space, and we anticipate that rates for the this week will continue to rise.

5. CN-ATL: This week, air connecting solutions like CI and BR (PVG-TPE-ATL) have very few available spaces left, leading to an increase in rates.

6. CN-SEA/SFO: Air connection solutions like JL (PVG-NRT/HND-SEA/SFO) have available space for the first leg (PVG-NRT/HND). However, the second leg is experiencing significant constraints. Rates for this week may continue to increase.

7. CN-MEX: Due to an increase in volume for automotive parts, the demand for CN-Mexico has surged. Most shippers are seeking solutions with fast transit times. The main final destinations from CN to Mexico have predominantly been MTY.
